AWESOME FUN Camping last weekend!

Posted on Sep 27 2021 - 10:50am

35DA0FC4-A836-4550-B3C7-85B84DC73797We all had a great time camping down the cape on the weekend. Friday night we had to shelter from the Thunder and Lightning under the pavilion until it passed which made for some exciting times, especially with a ride on the camp directors "Gucci bus". Saturday was a great day of shooting. There were a few scouts that had never shot a rifle before, but Mr Monroe, the shooting director took us through the safe shooting course. There were also many scouts (and leaders!) that shot a shotgun at clay pigeons for the first time, but none better than our SPL, Finn Bias, who barely missed a target for both rifle and shotgun!  It rained hard during the night, but we mostly stayed dry in the troop tents that were set up correctly, but a few of the scouts will need better rain gear! All in all some awesome experiences were had and the scouts experienced some extreme camping. More photos here > https://www.hinghamtroop1.com/image/tid/1101

Columbus Day Weekend - All welcome to come including Youth Protection Trained parents!*
Come over Historic Nantucket for the weekend of cycling and adventure. We will camp out at Camp Richard, located approximately 3 miles from the Steamship boat docking facilities. Biking is the form of transportation and activity for visiting scout troops. The island is covered with numerous bike paths. Plan on bringing your own bikes, or you can rent them here if you do not have one. Itineraries and maps are available at the local bike shops.

Cost:

We will need $50 from each scout to attend to cover some of the costs for this camp. The scout will also need to pay for their own return ticket on the ferry (~$15) plus money for items to purchase while traveling the island (Probably junk food!)

Transport:

Scouts will bring their bikes to the Thursday Troop Meeting for a safety check and load onto the Truck for transport to the island. Scouts will meet Saturday morning 8:30am at Hyannis Steamship Authority for drop off (rideshares can be arranged), One Adult will purchase the tickets for the scouts to board at 8:45. We will arrive in Nantucket at 11:30 where the Truck will meet the Scouts to collect their bicycles and the scouts can put their packs into the truck and head to Camp Richard.
